Winning in Blackjack
Basic Blackjack Strategy
Blackjack is a game where your actions directly affect the outcome of the game. By playing with optimal blackjack strategy you can reduce the house edge down to as low as 0.5%. It is important to learn optimum strategy in the game and follow blackjack tips to ensure that you play the best possible game.
Blackjack Charts
A blackjack chart lists all the possible combinations of cards that you can hold at the beginning of a game and compares these to the possible up-card of the dealer. For each combination, the blackjack chart indicates how you should play for optimum strategy – whether you should hit, stand, split or double down. These charts make it possible for you to play with optimal strategy every time. It is important to memorise the charts or, if you are playing online blackjack, to stick the chart up next to your computer so that you can refer to it every time you play the game.
Blackjack Tips
The dealer in a game of blackjack always has to follow the house rules of when to hit and when to stand. As you will know the house rules that the dealer must hold by and the aim of the game is to achieve closer to 21 than the dealer without going over, you can follow some basic tips to help you improve your blackjack game. Winning in blackjack is possible if you follow these blackjack tips:
- Hit if you hold a hand lower than 17 and the dealer’s up-card is 8 or higher.
- Stand if your hand is 11 or higher and the dealer’s up-card is 4, 5 or 6.
- Double down if you hold a hand of 9 or a soft 13, 14, 15, 16 or 17 and the dealer’s up-card is 4, 5 or 6.
Split if you hold 2 Aces. Never split two tens, face cards or fives.
